Around 20:45-hours on Saturday evening June 15, North and Northeast BCFD companies were dispatched for a reported school fire at address 5500 Midwood Ave in the Govans area of North Baltimore. This was at the Chinquapin Middle School building now known as the Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys. Engine Co.43 from the Govans Firehouse located on Chinquapin Pkwy/Walters Ave arrived in on scene first reporting a 2-story school building with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear (Side-C). Just minutes later command requested a working fire dispatch followed by an immediate 2nd alarm. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack and brought the fire under control in about 35 minutes. The corrected address was at 900 Woodbourne Ave. The fire's cause is currently under investigation.
