Shortly before 16:00-hours, west side city fire companies were dispatched for a reported warehouse on fire near the intersection of Frederick Avenue and Calverton Road in the Carrollton Ridge Community of Southwest Baltimore. Engine Co.14 first due from the Fort Hollins Firehouse on Hollins Street arrived in reporting heavy fire and smoke showing from a large 3-story brick vacant warehouse. Within minutes later command requested a 2nd alarm. Due to the shear size of the building and limited tough access, about 15 minutes later a 3rd alarm was sounded followed by a special call for two additional engine companies. It took many hours into the evening before the fire was declared under control. No injuries were reported. The origin of the cause is under investigation.
