Shortly before sunrise around 6AM, north Baltimore City fire companies were dispatched for a reported dwelling fire at address 101 Longwood Road in the Roland Park neighborhood. Engine Co.44 and Truck Co.25 housed from the Roland Park firehouse on Upland Rd. arrived first due in reporting heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of a 3-story 100 x 120 ft. wood-frame house and immediately struck a 2nd alarm. Due to the fire intensifying through the roof of the house, firefighters were forced to evacuate and fight it using exterior operations only until most of the fire was knocked.
All occupants were reported safely out of the dwelling and no injuries were reported. It took about 2 hours for firefighters to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
