Around 14:30-hours on Saturday afternoon Mar.9, Eastside and Downtown area BCFD companies were dispatched for a reported vacant building fire at address 1654 East Pratt Street in the Fell's Point area of Southeast Baltimore. Engine Co.5 and Truck Co.3 from the Fell's Point Firehouse located on Eastern & S Collington Avenues arrived in on scene first reporting a 3-story vacant commercial building with heavy smoke showing. Just minutes later command requested a working fire dispatch and as conditions worsened, firefighters were forced to evacuate the fire building and fight from exterior operations only. A 2nd alarm was immediately struck following the evacuation. It took about an hour or so for firefighters to bring the blaze under control. The cause is currently under investigation.
