Shortly before 6:00-hours, fire companies and the hazardous materials team were dispatched for a reported train derailment in the Howard Street Tunnel next to the Old Mount Royal/MICA Station building. Units arrived on scene reporting nearly a dozen cars that had flipped over, all of which were empty except for one that was full of acetone, a highly flammable liquid. Fortunately there were no cracks or leaks reported from the car full of acetone. Units have been on scene for an extensive amount of time until the cleanup is resolved.
No injuries were reported and the cause of this derailment remains under investigation.
