Around 23:00-hours, east side and downtown area companies were dispatched for a reported vacant dwelling fire in the 1200-Block of Homewood Avenue in the area of Johnston Square. Engine Co.6, Truck Co.1 and the 2nd Battalion housed at the Oldtown Station arrived first in reporting heavy fire showing from three vacant 3-story rowhouses and immediately requested a working fire on arrival. About 20 minutes later a 2nd alarm was struck. No injuries were reported. It took about an hour and 15 minutes for firefighters to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
